Medical Behavior Evaluation No Initial Behavior
Medical Summary scan: sex: S/O: Dog is BAR with “goose-honk” cough; mm pink, moist; grade II-III/VI heart murmur A: DDx for cough: collapsing trachea, chronic sterile bronchitis, CHF, infectious tracheobronchitis, bronchial compression due to left atrial enlargement or lymphadenopathy, pneumonia, tracheal or laryngeal obstruction, open; DDx for heart murmur: mitral valve insufficiency, open P: Highly suspect collapsing trachea in this dog. Recommend thoracic and lateral cervical rads, which may or may not reveal collapsing trachea. Fluoroscopy or bronchoscopy for advanced testing. Chronic medical treatment would include antitussives, anti-inflammatories, and/or bronchodilators. Dog should have echocardiogram at some point to assess cause of murmur. PROGNOSIS: Poor-guarded for collapsing trachea b/c it is irreversible and progressive

Basic Information
Remy is a 12 year old, Geriatric dog. Client brought In Remy because he himself has trouble breathing and cannot care for Remy anymore. Client received the dog from his daughter who is struggle with drugs. Remy does has some medical issues in terms of his breathing. When Remy starts breathing heavy he begins to wheeze and coughing. Client stated that Remy was given medication that helped the breathing condition because prior to that it was worst.
Socialization: Remy has not had a variety of experiences dealing with other people and animals. Remy has no pervious bite history. Remy has only interacted with his owner and his daughter when she was well.
Behavior: Remy is overall a well-trained dog. Remy does use a potty pad when he needs to go to the bathroom. Remy gets nervous when he is around new people but he warms up shortly after. Remy does gets scared around loud noises. When Remy is scared he hides in dark places. Remy does tolerate baths and getting it nails trimmed.
For a new family to know: Remy isn’t as playful as he used to be because of his age however, he does like to play with toys. Remy likes playing with soft toys. Remy has a medium activity level. Remy enjoys sleeping and drinking water. Remy is mostly an indoor dog. Remy does respond many commands such as sit, and go. Remy has never been crate trained. Remy likes both wet and dry foods.
