10/31/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Surrendered to our care when her family moved someplace she is not welcome, as of this writing, Red is keenly feeling her abandonment. Quiet in her kennel all day, she stands as I unlatch her door ready for an outing. We’re told she’s housetrained and indeed she took care of her business the moment we were out the door. She’s a compact little girl in a ‘red’ coat, her leash manners are good and while she pulls from time to time it’s nothing major, she wags her tail at everyone we pass looking up wondering if this person belongs to her. We’re told she’s timid with strangers at first, needing a little time to warm up but once she does she’s friendly and plays gently. Red lived with babies/toddlers and was tolerant, enjoys baths and brushing, knows ‘sit’ and ‘stay’, lived well with another dog, is well behaved when left home alone, and her favorite treats are people food such as chicken and rice. My heart melts for Red as she looks around and cries for her people. Dogs are stalwart and I know she’ll find a new person or family to love. She’s a proven family dog and is looking for a new family to love, one who understands the meaning of a lifetime commitment. She’s lovely and deserves ‘happily ever after’.

10/29/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Red engages in pushy play with social dogs but has not interacted with another female though her owner reports she is friendly and playful with all dogs. The behavior department feels that Red should have a pre-adoption interaction before going to a home with another dog. When off leash with other dogs, Red allows brief greeting. She is uncomfortable with prolonged interaction and begins to lip curl when the greeter attempts to re-approach. 11/3 update: Red greets well and will solicit the other dog. She will engage briefly in bouncy play. 11/4 update: Red solicits but may try to assert herself over the other dog. She will stand tall and T over their shoulders, but she maintains a loose body throughout the interaction. 11/5 update: Red will solicit and engage briefly in play. She offers correction when mounted.
