06/27/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Red had to go potty so badly, and wouldn’t soil his kennel that he was actually trembling as I opened his door. As soon as we were outside he peed enough to raise the Hudson River by 5 inches, so I can say with some degree of certainty that he’s housetrained! He’s so handsome in his white and brown coat, the perfect weight for his size, and friendly and tail waggingly cuddly. Ask Red what his favorite thing to do is and he’ll tell you without hesitation, CUDDLING! A total people dog, he likes to be close preferably with, at the least, a paw in his person’s lap. On leash he pulls slightly, and it’s clear that right now he’s looking for his person as we walk. Off leash in the yard, it’s up on the bench for cuddling, or sitting between my legs head on my lap, or whatever position he can manage to be close. Red’s other talent is that he can sing, and if you’re looking for someone to accompany you as you vocalize, Red is perfect! Red is hoping to serenade you with his version of the latest love song, so come sing a long (and CUDDLE) with Red…..He’ll even let you sing the melody while he harmonizes!
06/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Red walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Red was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was not interested in food or rawhide but took the toy away but had soft body language. Red did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. No interest. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide 1. No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Red will politely greet other dogs but is anxious after initial greetings and will whine while in the yard.
