11/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Riley previously lived with 1 adult and has been around children and cats. The owner stated Riley is relaxed, respectful and playful with children and respectful of cats. The owner mentioned Riley is house trained, has a high activity level and when home alone she often whines. It was reported by the owner Riley barks and growls if someone’s touches her food bowl, treats or other objects. The owner describes Riley as playful, excitable, affectionate, fearful, anxious, mellow and friendly. The owner stated Riley might be playful for a while but can also become defensive if the other dog barks or growls at whether it’s out of playfulness or not. At intake it was reported Riley was very hyper and nippy when giving treats, she did allow all handling. During SAFER Riley came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly, very playful and mouthy, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Riley joins the game during the tag interaction and during the resources portion of the assessment Riley was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner Riley will bark and growl around her resources and also her unpredictable behavior around other dogs, so the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children or other dogs in the house hold. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, mouths the hand, but does not apply pressure. Or, dog licks hands while lips are long. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog gently places her open mouth over the Assessor’s hand applying light pressure. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Riley is a bit nervous but allows the other dog to sniff her briefly and may sniff them in return. She spends most of her time exploring her surroundings.
11/12/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Riley is nervous and mostly avoids interaction when interacting with large dogs. With small dogs, she engages in play with another puppy and may sniff the other dogs briefly but becomes overwhelmed and avoids interaction once multiple small dogs are introduced. Based on her behavior during playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that Riley can go to a home with both male and females dogs. Due to her nervousness, we recommend she be placed with calm, respectful dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Riley is a bit nervous but allows the other dog to sniff her briefly and may sniff them in return. She spends most of her time exploring her surroundings. 11/13 update: Riley is nervous and may sniff the other dogs briefly but mostly avoids interaction. 11/14 update: Riley initially engaged in play but became nervous once multiple small dogs were introduced and avoided interaction. 11/15 update: Riley greets appropriately but becomes pushy, growly and mounts another puppy. 11/16 update: Riley greets the other, larger dog with a fearful posture. She barked and avoided the other dog when solicited for play. 11/17 update: Riley is still nervous around large dogs but will become pushy in her attempts to solicit play with another young dog. 11/18 update: Riley is a bit nervous but greets the small dogs politely. She may become a bit bouncy but does not actually engage in play. 11/19 update: Riley greets a calmer, large dog appropriately. She is a bit forward when interacting with a more nervous dog.
