08/30/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/30/15 10:02 Basic Information: Rambo is a 3 year old unaltered American Staffordshire Terrier mix. The owner received Rambo from a friend and is surrendering Rambo due to a new job that requires travel out of the state. Rambo has not seen a vet regularly but has no known health problems or injuries. The owner describes Rambo as friendly and emotional. Social Life and Personality: Rambo has lived with a 5 year old child. He is relaxed, tolerant and exuberant during play with her. The biggest problem is that in his excitement, he knocks her down. Rambo is very playful with other dogs and his owner says that Rambo does not understand if other dogs do not want to play. Rambo has seen cats in his back yard and chases them in a playful manner. He is house trained and does not have accidents in the home. He has been kept mostly indoors and has a high activity level. His owner describes him as playful, pushy, excitable, affectionate, anxious, mellow, and friendly. Behavior: Rambo is not bothered when someone touches his food bowl, removed from furniture, given baths, brushed, held, or when woken up during sleep. He is friendly when someone takes away his toys or when a stranger approaches his home or family. He has scratched his way through a door to the outside. For a New Family to Know: Rambo knows the commands sit, down, paw, walk, and stop. He will not preform the commands when anxious. He is walked 30-60 mins 1-2x a day. He is also let outside in the yard 1-2 times a day. He likes to play with balls and squeaky toys. His favorite game is tug. He has not been crate trained. He is well behaved when left in the yard alone. He is not bothered by loud noises such as thunder. He is used to eating dry dog food once a day. Intake Behavior: Rambo entered the office with his owner with high energy, a loose body, and wagging tail. As the admission process continued, Rambo became increasingly anxious. He whined when he heard other dogs barking and repeatedly jumped into his owner’s lap. He responded well to dog treats. He a treat was brought out he would focus his attention on the treat and listen to commands. When he was done with his treat, he would start to whine and become anxious again. When his owner left the office, Rambo whine and was jumping at the door. When the counselor was removing his collar, Rambo would quickly turn his head. The counselor used a treat to focus his attention so she could remove Rambo’s collar.
09/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: My goodness, this is a lot of dog to love. He’s one of those dogs that typifies the Pit Bull (American Staff), with his fine strong looks, the right temperament, an amazing body from tip to tip … His overall color, that brown/reddish short fur. His spirit … Lively and sweet as a dog can be, he’s very smart and responsive to commands too, walking by my side, and not pulling in any direction. He knows the command to “Sit”, and like most dogs, does it quickly when served up a treat, “Good, doggie. Good, good doggie.” He knows where to do his business, while we walked on the doggie route, and not in his kennel, making me believe that he’s house trained. In my mind, this is one dog you should come into the center and meet … Today. I’m sure it will be one of those decisions, you’ll never regret. Wont you open up your heart and come into our Brooklyn Care Center today … Make adoption a reality, for Rambo, for you, and your family. I’m sure, after meeting this dog you’ll be taking him home to share with you, as a friend, a companion, able to give that unconditional love that only animal like Rambo can give. Please … Don’t hesitate another moment … Just do it!
