A volunteer writes:
True to his name, Choc Co sure is a sweet treat! He’s friendly and welcoming in his kennel, easy and playful outside and considering this is his third ‘visit’ to the Care Center, he’s holding up amazingly well. Over the past 2 years (and yes, that would be his entire life) Choc Co has been removed by the police, lost his home to a fire and was most recently left with friends of his owner who can no longer care for him. Constantly being moved from pillar to post with no real home or family to call his own has certainly left our poor boy stressed out yet I’ve never seen him show anything but curiosity and open-hearted friendship toward people and dogs alike. He greets me at the door of his den with an eager bark and a wagging tail and he’s soon walking calmly down the street, meeting other pups pleasantly and being nicely responsive to my requests to ‘stop’ or ‘come’. Back in the yard Choc Co has just the right amount of energy, he absolutely loves to chase and chew the ball, sits on command to await my throw and never guards his prize – he’s the perfect playmate! Though he isn’t one to initiate snuggling, Choc Co welcomes my petting and cuddles and is totally cool with wearing a spiffy coat for his photo shoot. Reward treats are taken softly from my fingers before he eagerly burrows his nose into my pocket to search for more – this is a boy after my own heart! A good dog who deserves so much better than what he’s been given, Choc Co’s spirit is still strong and he’s more than ready to forget the past and offer his whole heart to the lucky adopter who claims him for their own. Choc Co has lived in harmony with several doggie siblings and he’s already neutered and ready to leave immediately…so what are you waiting for? Let’s make sure his run of bad luck ends here. Please step up for Choc Co and make this the day that he finally gets the happy ending he deserves; a stable home and a true forever family who’ll love and cherish him for the rest of his life.
