A volunteer writes: Let’s give an old school cheer for my new friend Rah! ‘Rah, Rah, Cis Boom Bah’! Remember that? Rah is an awesome dog and my early walk partner on a nice summer morning. Lying quietly in his kennel his big rabbit ears catch my attention and his tail starts to wag as I unlatch his door. Housetrained and taking advantage of being outside in every way we then head to the park, Rah alternating between pulling and walking nicely. Well groomed and oh so handsome, Rah wags his tail happily at other dogs we meet and poses for pictures like a pro. He gives wonderful stand up hugs, takes treats gently after a ‘sit’, and is friendly, smiling and lovely. Off leash in a pen he play bows to other dogs passing by, and in group is social and polite, a “gentle and dainty” player. After exploring the pen he jumps up on the bench to sit beside me, leaning into me for some snuggles. Intake staff said he was “very friendly” during that stressful process and he continues to be just that. He was the perfect start to my day, and lucky you can start every day with Rah. A doggie sibling would likely be good, but most important is love, exercise, structure, and more love. Rah, Rah, Cis Boom Bah!
08/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rah pulls had on the leash when out on his relief walk; he was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands and face. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Rah was difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. He was more interested in interacting with the handler than the toy, and he was easy to handle when chewing on the rawhide. Rah was surrendered to the care center; upon intake he allowed handling and showed no signs of aggression. Rah was described by his owners as playful, excitable, affectionate, mellow and friendly. He lived with a 2 year old and was playful around him; he is also reportedly playful and excited around other dogs. Rah remained friendly towards the handler throughout the assessment. The Behavior Department feels that Rah can go to an average adopter that understands Rah would greatly benefit from regular exercise and mental stimulation, such as Kongs, rawhides, and ice blocks, as appropriate outlets for her energy.
