06/03/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: With her soft pink nose, soulful amber eyes and pristine white coat, Princess Di is a petite vision — a vision of a wagging tail, sweet kisses, and a snuggle. In the back yard she makes a quick pit stop to take care of her business before we go into a pen to play off leash. Good girl, Princess! Rolling in against my legs for hugs, she wags her tail gently and closes her eyes as I stroke her. Cuddle time is followed by some play time and she finds a stick, and then I throw a ball, which she femininely trots after, picks up, and then drops half way back to me. She’s too cute. Showing off a perfect sit, she takes her reward treat gently and keeps following my hand to my treat bag. Happy to simply hang out with me, she jumps up on the bench to sit beside me for a quick minute, but it took some coaxing and she leapt right down again. Perhaps she wasn’t allowed on the furniture in her former home? Gentle and mellow, Princess Di is a snuggler’s delight as she curls and tucks herself into my legs. She’ll do best in a home without cats, small dogs or other small animals. If you have a larger dog a meet and greet is encouraged. Ready to curl in against you with love, Princess Di is hoping you’ll ask to meet her today. We all need a soft pink nose in our lives.
05/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess walks with a low body language on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Princess was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. Princess did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She was not interested in toys or rawhide. Princess needs time to warm up to the handler. During the dog interaction Princess show a bit of concern she stands tall, and tries to look large. She arches her neck and was tense. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2.
