Princess is described to be friendly, playful, and affectionate with a high activity level. Behavior Issues: Princess has never bitten a person or another animal according to the owner. Princess shows some guarding issues and will snap/growl if another dog approaches her food bowl while she is eating. This is said to be the same if a toy/rawhide is touched. This is only if another dog approaches, and the previous owners said if a person approaches her food bowl or takes a toy away from her, these issues are not present. . The owner has never tried to bath or trim Princess’ nails and isn’t sure how she would respond to those grooming agents. However she loves to have her coat brushed. For a new Family to Know: Princess knows how to stay and sit. Princess went for slow walks on a leash. She enjoys all sorts of dog toys and will play with just about anything. When in the home Princess is the type to follow you around seeking attention. When left alone in the home, Princess is well behaved but will chew on her dog bed, so it is recommended to give her lots of toys to keep her busy. She was fed Beneful dry only. Behavior Upon intake: Upon intake, Princess was very friendly and jumped up on me to be pet and for kisses. She showed no signs of aggression and allowed all handling.

12/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess came into our center along with another large dog on 12/4/2015. Owner reports Princess has been around children and interacts with them in a playful manner. She has also been around other dogs (large & small) and gets along with them fine. Princess has never been around cats, so her behavior is unknown. Owner describes Princess as friendly, playful, and affectionate with a high activity level. Owner reports Princess will snap and growl if another dog approaches the food bowl while she is eating, and if another dog tries to take away Toy or rawhide, but she does not snap or growl if a person attempts the same thing. Owner reports Princess loves to have her coat brushed. It is reported when left alone in the home, Princess may chew on her dog bed. She was friendly and jumped up affectionately upon intake, allowing all handling. Princess pulled hard on leash for her relief walk. She jumped up hard on both assessor and assistant in the SAFER assessment area. Princess allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, tail wagging, body soft. She leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, open mouth panting, tail wag. Princess playfully engaged in Tag game, jumping on assessor playfully during game, but settled at end. She did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Princess playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip with loose body. When off leash with other dogs, Jazzy is social and tolerant. The Behavior Team feels Jazzy would do best with an Experienced adopter. She may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and not to jump up. Princess would benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play, as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct her high energy and enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1.
