Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess previously lived with 1 adult and teenagers. The Owner stated Princess is fearful towards people she doesn’t know but once she gets to know someone she is relaxed. The owner mentioned Princess is house train, crate trained for up to 6 hours, well behaved when home alone and has a high activity level. The owner describes Princess as playful, shy and friendly. At intake it was reported Princess was nervous and tense, she bared her teeth and growled at the counselor, she allowed all handling only by the owner. During SAFER Princess came into the assessment room very fearful and consistently lip licks with stiff body language, she was not interested with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Princess tried to bite at the assessor on the Look item. She displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Princess approach the helper dog with her tail down and body relaxed. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog tries to bite. Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 1. Dog approaches the helper dog, soft or loose body, not playful, tail down, investigates then turns away.
