I am a female tan and white chihuahua sh and cairn terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 10 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 09/13/2015 from NY 10027, owner surrender reason stated was OWN EVICT. I came in with Group/Litter #K15-031991.

09/13/15 18:49 Basic Infomation: Princess is a 10 year old Chihuahua and cairn terrier mix. Her previous owner had her all her life. She bought her from a man whose dog had a litter of puppies. Princess has never been seen by a vet. The two things her previous owner liked most about her are; shes affectionate and playful. Social Life and Personality: Around children Princess is relaxed and playful she has been around children 2 and up. When she plays he is gentle. Around other dogs he is also relaxed and playful, she lived in the home with her brother, but she also gets along with other breeds. Princess is house-trained and has accidents rarely/never. Owner stated Princess was kept indoors only and never really went out for walks. Her activity level is medium and she can be described as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, independent and friendly. Behavior Issues: Princess is friendly if someone touches his food bowl, treat or toy while eating and playing. She is also friendly if she is pushed off the furniture, having his coat brushed, held, or if an unfamiliar person approached her previous owner. She isn’t bothered when she’s given a bath or getting her nails trimmed. She barks if an unfamiliar person approached the home. For a New Family to Know: Princess knows how to sit and come. She went rarely went for walks owner stated maybe a few time a month. She likes to play with balls, stuffed toys, and squeaky toys. Her favorite games were fetch and tug. She usually goes to the bathroom on piddle pads. When her previous owners were home Princess would tend to follow them around and liked to be in the same room. When left alone she was well-behaved. During fireworks/ storms she is nervous. She ate wet and dry dog food and at night he slept in the hallway. Behavior during intake: Princess was relaxed, she allowed me to collar her and allowed being picked up. She showed no signs of aggression.

Princess walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Princess was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. Princess was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Princess was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Princess around children is relaxed and playful she has been around children 2 and up. When she plays he is gentle. Around other dogs he is also relaxed and playful, she lived in the home with her brother, but she also gets along with other breeds. Her activity level is medium and she can be described as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, independent and friendly. Princess is friendly if someone touches his food bowl, treat or toy while eating and playing”. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Princess is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Rascal is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog – dog 1.
