BEHAVIOR:
Princess came into our center as an owner surrender. It is reported she has lived with children ages 2-14 and was relaxed around them. Also reported Princess has interacted with large dogs in the past and behaved well with them. She ignores stray cats she has seen while walking in the street. Princess was calm during intake and allowed all handling. Princess allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft. She stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, body soft, ears neutral. Princess followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, approaching assessor at the end of game. She gently pulled her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Princess had no interest in Food, Toy, or Rawhide. She approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, ears forward, body relaxed. She whined slightly to solicit attention in between assessment items. The Behavior Team feels Princess would do well in an Average home.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
