07/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess came to us as a stray on 7/25/15. Upon intake it was reported that Princess had soft body language and was very easy to handle. When entering the behavior room Princess was very interested in interacting with the assessor and was very easily handled. She allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessments while maintaining very soft body language. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Princess only displayed minimal interest in the toy, but proved very easy to handle while chewing on the rawhide item. During an on leash dog interaction Princess had very soft body language when approaching the helper. The behavior department believes that Princess can go to a beginner home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog – dog 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip long.
