05/30/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/30/15 16:02 Princess is a 5 year old large mixed breed. She was found on the street as a puppy by her owner 5 years ago. The surrender is due to the owner moving. Due to a language barrier, a full profile was not obtained, but it is know she is gentle and has been around children. She does not guard her food bowl while eating or her bones or toys. Her owner has taken her to run around at the beach and is friendly with other dogs. At intake, Princess was quiet and allowed all handling. She had a relaxed body and allowed all petting/handling by the counselor. Princess was easy to collar, scan, and photograph.
06/09/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: To put it simply, Princess is amazing! She is an incredibly sweet, statuesque beauty that is very easy to connect with. She lived with the person that found her as a puppy, until now. Despite losing the only life she’s known, Princess has adjusted quite well and has quickly won over staff and volunteers. She is incredibly gentle and mild-mannered. In fact, she is so well behaved she has been used to train new volunteers – and there is no better way to get them excited about walking dogs, as she is such a pleasure to be with! She is a big girl, but walks perfectly on leash and is very attentive. She seems housebroken, knows “sit,” and takes treats very softly. Her previous owner reports that she does well with children and other dogs. She softly wags her tail throughout walks and is very quietly affectionate. She’ll rest her head on my knee when I bend down to pet her, and then place her paw on my lap – apparently enjoying my company as much as I do hers! She certainly deserves to be treated like royalty, but I doubt Princess will ask for much, especially compared to what she’ll offer in return. Please come meet her at Brooklyn ACC!
06/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess came in as an owner surrender; there was limited information upon her intake. She previously lived with one adult and has been around children; also the owner mentioned that she is gentle with children. During SAFER Princess had relaxed body posture, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Princess was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Princess was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Princess appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for a “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is tucked, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Princess is more comfortable in the yard with a raised tail. She approaches a calm male to greet and explores the yard.
