06/16/15 16:32 Basic Information: Prince Larry “Prince” is a 5 year old unaltered American Pit Bull Terrier. He was given to the owner by the previous owner. He has been in his current home for 2 years and is being surrender because of home owner insurance problems. He has not been to the vet but he has no known injuries or medical problems. He does bite his tail leaving sires. His owner loves how loyal he is and how he alerts him when people come over. Social Life and Personality: Prince is relaxed and tolerant children of from infants and older. He does not play with the children. She lives with a yorkie and they are tolerant of each other but with dogs walking on the side walk, Prince will bark and chase them from inside his fence. He has not been around cats. It is unsure if He is house trained because she was kept in the backyard. He has a high activity level. His owner describes him as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, mellow, and independent. Behavior: Prince is not bothered when someone touches his food, hold him, woken up, or when someone approaches his family. He is friendly when someone takes away his toy or when brushed. He barks and growls at people that approach his home until his owner comes outside. For a New Family to Know: Prince knows the commands come and quiet. He was kept in the backyard and will chew on things left in the yard. He likes to play with balls and sticks. His favorite games are fetch and alerting. He is fed pedigree dry dog food once a day. His favorite treats are bones. Intake Behavior: Prince Larry “Prince” entered the office with his owner and was sniffing the ground. While he was sniffing the ground he counselor scanned Prince for a microchip. During the scanning, Prince turned his head and had the slight and quick lip curl. His tail was tucked between his legs but not up to his stomach. After the intake process, the owner stayed with the counselor so Prince could be collared. When the counselor said Prince’s name he approached her and licked her face while she collared.

Prince Larry was reported to be relaxed and tolerant with children of all ages, but the owner states he does not play with them. It was noted that Prince Larry lived with a smaller dog and they are tolerant of each other. The owner stated that they are unsure if he is house trained because he was kept in the backyard. Prince Larry was said to have a high activity level and his owner described him as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, mellow, and independent. At intake it was noted that Prince Larry became uncomfortable when a counselor attempted to scan him, but after the intake was over the counselor called his name and he became sociable and licked the counselor’s hands and face. During SAFER Prince Larry did not solicit attention, and appeared to be more interested in his surroundings. He was a bit tense for some handling, but he allowed the assessor to conduct all items without issue. During the resources portion of the assessment Prince Larry has a stiff body posture and could not be pushed out of the food bowl but did not snap or growl. When engaged with the toys and rawhide items Prince Larry had a loose body but did not relinquish the items. The department feels Prince Larry would be best suited for an experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is down, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 3. Dog follows the dish, his tail between down, ears are forward. His body is stiff. Dog does not lift his head from the bowl when hand is applied to his cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: when off leash with other dogs, Prince Larry is Tolerant of solicitation and may briefly chase
