08/27/15 16:27 Basic Information: Prince is a 7 year old unaltered male Shih Tzu. He was brought form a pet store in 2008. Owner surrenders Prince due to living arrangements. Social Life and Personality: Prince lived with 5 adults and lived with a 5 year old. Owner stated Prince is relaxed, respectful, and tolerant towards people in the household. Prince will growl at children if they in his face or pull at his tail. Owner stated Prince gets along with dogs at the dog bark and his behavior is unknown towards cats. He is mostly indoors and activity level is to a medium. Owner describes Prince as playful, confident, mellow and friendly. Behavior Issues: Prince never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. Owner mention he doesn’t resource guard his food but if someone other than owner tries to touch it he will growl He isn’t bothered by taking baths or being groomed. He barks when unfamiliar people approach the house but is friendly when someone approaches family member. For a New Family to Know: Prince is trained to use the bathroom outdoors twice a day on leash. He knows commands such as stay and stop. He likes to play with squeaky, bines and rubber toys. Prince has never been crate trained. Prince likes to follow owner around the house and is well behaved home alone. Prince eats only Beneful wet and dry food and won’t eat any other food owner stated. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Prince was timid and growling. He scanned positive for a microchip and allowed limited handling.

Prince previously lived with 5 adults and a 5 year old. The owner stated Prince is relaxed, respectful, and tolerant towards people in the household. The owner mentioned Prince will growl at children if they are in his face or pull on his tail. The owner describes as Prince as playful, confident, mellow and friendly. It was reported by the owner Prince doesn’t resource guard his food but if someone other than owner tries to touch it he will growl. The owner stated Prince is house trained and well behaved when home alone. At intake Prince was timid and growling, he allowed limited handling. During SAFER Prince came into the assessment room calm. This behavior was maintained when entering the behavior assessment room, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Prince growled at the assessor on the Look item. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Prince is sexually motivated but takes correction.
