PROFILE 10/22/15
Preston is a 14 year old male neutered black and brown Rottweiler dog who is being surrender because the owner can no longer keep him in the home. Preston has been with his family his whole life.
Preston lived with 4 adults and 2 small children. Owner describes as playful and tolerant of children. He also lived with his litter mate who he was always playful with and receptive to who passed away last year. There were two cats in the home and Preston was very tolerant of the play from the cats. Preston has grown up in a yard and is not house broken. He gets exercise in the yard and has only been exposed to other dogs that visit the home. Owner states he has always been receptive to visiting dogs at the home. Owner states when he was younger he may guard the small children of the family against strangers by growling and blocking them.
Preston does not like a bath and he will flee for this. He has not had a nail trim. Preston does not guard his food toys or treats and if you take is food while eating he will disengage and walk away. If on a couch or bed he can easily be removed. He is not easily startled when being awoken. Preston does not mind driving.
Preston likes to chew on objects he is given as toys but will not swallow the material. He knows the commands the sit and lay down but is not as responsive in his old age. When the family is home he likes to go to his own place. When alone at home he is well behaved. Preston likes dry food.
Preston was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Preston allowed petting and enjoyed taking treats. Preston walked well on leash.
Group Behavior: When off leash with other dogs, Preston greets the helper dog politely before moving off to explore his surroundings.
