I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 03/24/2015 from NY 11212, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

S/O: Vet check for Day 8 of Doxycycline. Patient was BAR upon presentation. Eating, drinking well. Normal stool in kennel. Attention seeking. Mild serous nasal discharge that patient would intermittently blow out. No signs of coughing, no ocular discharge NOSF P: 1. Keep in isolation until end of treatment. 2. Recheck on day 10

04/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Powell came to the care center as a stray surrender, so his past behavior in a home is unknown. During SAFER Powell was very sociable and attention seeking. He allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue and was relaxed during the tag interaction. Powell did become stiff during the food item, and could not be pushed out of the food bowl, but did not escalate to growling or snapping. He was also stiff when taking the rawhide away, and only showed minimal interest in the toys. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 3. Dog follows the dish, his tail between is low, ears are forward. His body is stiff. Dog does not lift his head from the bowl when hand is applied to his cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Powell has a loose body and a wagging tail at the gate when greeting. He enjoys in running play with another dog.
