PROFILE:
Poss is a 7 month old black and white american pitbull terrier who is being surrendered because the owner does not have time to properly care for him. Poss has been with the family 6 months.
Poss lives with 1 adult and a 2 year old child. Poss is reported to be tolerant and playful of the child. When visitors come to the home he is excited and curious to meet them. Poss is house trained but may have accidents in the house because his owner works and he is home alone for a very long time. He has never been exposed to cats in the home. Poss gets his exercise from leash walks and when he encounters other dogs he seeks introduction. When walking on the street if a stranger comes close Poss is not defensive but may jump on them.
Poss is very tolerant of a bath and a nail trim. Poss does not guard his food toys or treats but if the owner goes to take his food he will reposition himself to block the food but is not defensive. When on the bed or the couch he is easily removed.
Poss likes to play tugging games and is destructive to toys but does not swallow the material. He knows the commands the sit. When the family is home he likes to be where they are. When home alone he can be anxious and may destroy objects that have been left out but not furniture. Poss likes both wet and dry food.
Upon intake Poss was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (positive) collar and photograph. Poss was responsive to treats and allowed all petting. Poss was energetic and insistent on leash but resposnsive to guidance. Poss is very interested in new people.
