05/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ponpei came to us as a stray on 5/1/15. Upon intake Ponpei was reported to be alert and tense, and only allowed limited handling. He was nervous when entering the behavior room and was very interest in the environment. He allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items, but maintained stiff and nervous body language throughout the assessment. He proved a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. The behavior department believes that Ponpei would do best in an experienced home. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is a bit tense and fearful, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needs coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward.
