A volunteer writes: Talk about a rockstar resume! Polo was surrendered by the only family he’s ever known due to landlord issues, so we know a lot about him. He knows ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘stay’ and ‘give paw’, is housetrained and crate trained, is well behaved when left alone in the house, is relaxed, playful and respectful of the three kids he’s been around (ages 3 mos., 4yo, 9yo), is afraid of cats, and can be nervous around strange dogs. We are also told that he likes balls and squeaky toys. Polo was happy to come for a walk so that he could show me his housetraining skills, and then show me how nicely he walks on the leash. He pulls slightly from time to time, but that was to look at people we passed on the sidewalk as he wondered to himself if this would be his new mommy or daddy….. Polo is a chunky well fed little boy in a gorgeous shiny brown coat, his little face alert and curious. He was quiet in his kennel awaiting his turn for a walk, and when our time together was over he hopped right back in like a little gentleman. He’s an awesome little guy who is looking for a new family to take care of. Are you going to be the lucky person who adopts him?
Another volunteer writes: Marco? Polo! Who wouldn’t want to play all day with this family-friendly guy? He’s loving and obedient, handsome and gentle, not to mention one of the best kissers around! Polo meets other dogs through the fence with polite nose snuffles and a softly wagging tail and he’s always so happy to go for a walk with his people. The ear-to-ear smile on his face when I saw him returning from the park with another volunteer really says it all, Polo is a loverboy eager to find someone of his own to love. Ask to meet him today, you’ll both be glad you did!

Polo came to our center as an owner surrender. It is reported he gets along well with children, and was living in the home with children ranging in age from 3 months to 9 years. Owner also reports he is fearful around cats, and somewhat fearful around dogs but will play with them somewhat rough. Polo pulled a bit on leash for his relief walk. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, tail wagging. Polo stood still and accepted the touch for Sensitivity item, tail wagging, body soft. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, tail wagging, settling easily at the end. Polo did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, tail wagging. He required a bit of pressure to remove his head from the Food dish, becoming a bit stiff. Polo had no interest in Toy and minimal interest in Rawhide. He approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail at spine level, ears forward. The Behavior Team feels Polo would do well in an Average home. Look: 1.
