07/18/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Like a little kid, Pipsqueak goes goes goes and then stops… an energizer bunny, she loves meeting new people, having new experiences and enjoying what life has to offer. A gorgeous subtle tan and gray brindle coat, floppy ears, ‘let’s have fun’ eyes, and a wagging tail complete her picture. Pip (for short) is likely housetrained ‘going’ the moment we were out the door, and she then spent time greeting some staff and other people on the sidewalk as they all wanted to meet my fun and friendly companion. Happily enjoying the attention, she went from one to another for a kiss, a hug and a good ear scratch. Bouncy and playful, she does some on-leash zoomies when we get to the park, and when I tether her for some pictures she promptly rolls on her back for a belly rub. As energetic as she is, she’s an equally good cuddle buddy, rolling in my lap for petting, pushing her head into my chest for optimum closeness and thrilled to be hanging out with a person who likes to cuddle as much as she does! She does everything with enthusiasm and sparkle and is looking for an active home where lots of playtime, exercise and cuddles come in equal measure. Joining us with her two housemates (Pop Tart and Play Doh) when their owner passed away, she was clearly a cherished pet and is looking for a new person or family with whom to play and cuddle. She’s hoping it will be you!
07/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pipsqueak came to our center on 7/16/2015 with another large dog. She pulled on leash during her relief walk. Pipsqueak allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft and wiggly. She stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, lip lick, ears back. Pipsqueak jumped up playfully in between some of the SAFER assessment items, interested in interacting with assessor. She followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settling easily at the end. Pipsqueak did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. She calmly allowed the Food dish to be moved, and lifted her head out easily when assess-a-hand was applied to her cheek. Pipsqueak playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip, wagging tail, loose wiggly body. She kept a firm grip on Rawhide, body neutral. When off leash with other dogs, Pipsqueak is social and playful. The Behavior Team feels Pipsqueak would do well in an Average home. She may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and not to jump up. She may also benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, and play. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip , body neutral. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: Pipsqueak is social and playful. She will engage in running play when solicited by both males and females.
