PROFILE: 07/30/15
BASIC INFO: Phoebe A1045989 is a 2 year old female Yorkshire Terrier/Chihuahua Mix. She was a gift to the Owner from a friend. They owned the dog for a year. The main reason for surrender is that dogs are not allowed in Co-Op complex where they live. They do not have any injuries or health concerns.
SOCIALIZATION: Around strangers, she is very friendly. She lived with 2 children, ages 10 months and a year and a half old child, of which she was very respectful of. She was very relaxed and playful and gentle with them. She lived with her daughter and they got along well. She has not lived with cats. She has never bitten anyone.
BEHAVIOR: Phoebe does not have any behavior concerns and is not afraid during storms or fireworks. She is not bothered if you touch its food, water bowl or take an object away. She enjoys being bathed. Does not get bothered if an unfamiliar approaches.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: She is very friendly, affectionate and playful. She has a medium activity level. The dogs love to play with each other. They enjoy playing with toys. They play wrestling with each other. They sleep on a doggy bed and eat Beneful dry food. They use wee-wee pads to relieve themselves. Outside, they go on cement. When left alone, they are well behaved.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: they were a little nervous during process.
BEHAVIOR:
Phoebe walks calmly on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Phoebe was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Phoebe was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful.
Phoebe was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she is very friendly around strangers; she lived with 2 children, ages 10 months and a year and a half old child, of which she was very respectful of. She was very relaxed and playful and gentle with them. She lived with her daughter and they got along well. She has not lived with cats. She is not bothered if you touch its food, water bowl or take an object away”. Phoebe was a bit shy during the first part of the assessment but she warm up quickly. She just needs a few minutes to interact at her own pace. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter.
