11/04/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Phillisa was born and raised at home….She gave love and loyalty to the same family for six long years….A huge load of feelings for her people she must carry in her heart….Phillisa was an easy going gal who went with the flow, sharing the high’s and low’s as well as the joys of her masters and the children of the house. She kept everyone safe and warm when she slept with them at night. She carried herself a few litters and must have been such a beautiful mama….Phillisa was relinquished into our care as her landlord unfriended pets. She comes with glowing comments…Great with kids, welcoming of strangers, housetrained, crate trained, gentle with unknown dogs, obedient and compliant with whatever was proposed or imposed to her…So many words that in a nutshell just mean: Phillisa is a Great Family Dog!!!! One can imagine that such a gem, close to middle age, is not the happiest dog at the care center. Still her behavior is exemplary and timid. I so feel for her and wish I had a magic wand to wisk away her unfortunate situation or bring to her a whole line up of wonderful suitors who will welcome her in their loving home…Yes, Phillisa is sad but I know that soon enough, she will regain her smile and her “joie de vivre” in your hands as your forever best friend. Come and meet gentle Phillisa at the Manhattan Care Center. Make our wish come true and have yourself the best present on earth.
A Volunteer Wrote: This beautiful, gentle girl quakes in her kennel and is very timid in the shelter, where she is seemingly overwhelmed to find herself not in a loving home any longer but in a loud, strange place. We couldn’t wait to get her outside to comfort her, but the comfort ended up being largely ours: What a gift of a dog to walk and spend time with! She has beautiful leash manners, appears house trained, is gently joyful with all she meets, and simply blossoms when she gets to the park and can see that life is still what she remembers. Phillisa is a beautiful dog and has a beautiful soul, and we are counting down the hours until you–a loving, kind person or family–come and rescue her forever!
