03/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Peter Pan was brought in as a stray surrender so his past behavior in a home is unknown. At intake Peter Pan was reported to be very alert and observant and allowed all handling, but was uncomfortable during his medical exam and reluctant to any kind of restraint. During SAFER Peter Pan greeted the assessor with friendly body language, but became tense and was insistent on getting away from the assessor when being positioned for the handling portion of the assessment. When playing tag with the assessor Peter Pan became stiff and body checked the assessor. He was also a bit stiff during the food item, but did lift his head when a bit of pressure was applied to his cheek when being pushed out of the food bowl, and he was not interested in the toys or rawhide items. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 3. Dog is not fearful and is struggling to get away. The dog is not focused and is in constant movement, unconnected to the Assessor. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Peter Pan is a little status seeking with the helper dog. 4/22 update: PeterPan is not thriving in the kennel environment and his behavior appears to be deteriorating. He has been demonstrating leash reactivity and is difficult to walk on-leash; a low threshold for arousal and rapid overstimulation when outside the kennel; and destruction of items/chewing behavior inside the kennel. We feel it is in PeterPan’s best interest to leave the kennel environment quickly and be placed in a stable home environment with appropriate mental and physical exercise and stimulation.
03/25/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Peter Pan engage in behavior that appear to be motivated by status seeking. 3/29 Update PeterPan is extremely sexually motivated and actively pursues a female in the yard, does not allow for greeting behavior. 4/8 Update Peter Pan is anxious and pulls on the leash while coming to the yard. Muzzling is attempted but he begins biting at the muzzle in the handler’s hand. Muzzling is never completed.
