10/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pepsi Blue walks calmly on leash. He was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. Pepsi Blue had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Pepsi Blue was not interested in toys but took the rawhide away with a soft body language. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Pepsi Blue is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Pepsi Blue is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide.
10/20/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Pepsi Blue does not engage in play but is polite when in a group of dogs. However, he is unaltered, and his behaviors while socializing have been mostly sexually motivated. As a result of this the behavior department feels Pepsi Blue should have a pre-adoption interaction with both male and female dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Pepsi Blue is a bit forward when greeting, and shows interest in approaching. He is a bit sexually motivated but takes correction from the other dog. 10/21: Pepsi Blue greets politely. He is a bit sexually motivated but responds well to correction. 10/22 update: Pepsi Blue greets politely in a pen with calm males and females.
