10/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pepsi pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. Pepsi was calm and relaxed during handling. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Pepsi was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. He was not interested in toys but took the rawhide away with a soft body language. Pepsi did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but based on the behavior observed during playgroup, the behavior department advises against placement in a home with another dog. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Pepsi stiffens and growls when attempting to have him greet another dog through the fence. For safety reasons, Pepsi muzzled before he is introduced into the pen. When allowed into the pen, Pepsi immediately rushes in and runs after the female greeter dog, snapping and attempting to bite. Based on the behavior observed during playgroup, the behavior department advises against placement in a home with another dog.
