A volunteer writes:
I had to meet Penguin.I heard that he was a scared little dog and that he needed some TLC….Penguin(who does not look like a bird…) is a tiny ball of fur, partially matted who can barely be spotted in his kennel. As I open his door, he retreats  to the back wall but does not give me a growl or a show of teeth when I put a leash around his frail neck. Out he comes, right in my arms, tightly secured against my chest. Penguin is shaking although less and less as time elapses. He calms down under my caresses. Beside a few knots, his coat feels like silk.  I discover beautiful  and clear button eyes in hiding but looking right into mine as we have become acquainted. He is so cute and so young. He is the greatest lapdog. Let’s try a little walk. Penguin is quite good on the leash. We meet one other little dog. Penguin seems to like him….Penguin is an adorable  and minuscule young boy who will very soon need a home and a new master . He just needs a gentle approach and you will get and lovely and loving tiny friend for ever. Penguin is at the Manhattan Care Center.
