10/30/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/30/15 13:50 Pee Wee’s owner was an elderly woman who had to move to a nursing home. She had received him as a gift when he was a puppy 4 years ago. Her aide brought Pee Wee to ACC. Pee Wee lived inside with his owner and did not go outside much. He followed her everywhere and always sat cuddled up to her. However, he only tolerated light petting from her. He would not allow her to pet him all over or for extended periods of time. He would snap at her to warn her to stop petting him. He never bit her. He would not allow any other person to pet him at all. He would growl and snap at his owner’s nurses, especially when they approached his owner, so his owner kept him in a separate room when they came over. The aide doesn’t think he’s bit anyone. Pee Wee ate chicken and pottied on wee wee pads. He slept with his owner. Pee Wee arrived in a carrier. We snapped as we approached to leash him. We tipped his carrier. He retreated to the back, stiff with whale eye while we leashed him. He would not walk with us and sometimes snapped and thrashed at the end of his leash. On the back drop during pictures, he lied against the wall, a little on his side, his ears sometimes back. We tethered him and gave him space. He sat and looked around. His body became less stiff, but he was still tense with wide eyes. We offered him a crate, and he went inside. We put the crate inside a kennel with the door open, but he stayed inside the crate.

11/03/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pee Wee was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling and lunges at the rope. He did not show any social behavior. The behavior team couldn’t collar him Pee Wee was giving a low growl, expose his front teeth, and snap at the handler. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Pee Wee was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Toy 1: No interest.
