05/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Patches came to our center after her family was displaced in a house fire. It is reported she does not get along with cats. She was friendly upon intake, and walked well for her relief walk. Patches wagged her tail during Look item with soft body. She accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, but leaned her body slightly away from assessor. Patches followed at the end of the leash with wagging tail and loose body during Tag, settling at end of game easily. She licked assessor’s hand for Squeeze without pulling back. Patches calmly followed food dish and lifted head/ceased eating during Food item. She had no interest in toy. Patches settled close to rawhide, then raised her lip and growled at assess-a-hand as it approached. She was not interested in interacting with other dogs off leash, but tolerated being in the yard together. Due to Patches showing potential for possessive behavior over rawhide, the Behavior Team feels she would do best in an Experienced home with no children. She may also benefit from learning “drop it ” and trade-up games. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Dog leans away from assessor. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, tail wagging. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog licks hand. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 4. Dog raises lip and growls. Dog-to-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Patches is very tolerant and polite. She allows to be greeted and often explores the yard with the presence of another dog, but does no engage in any play.
