09/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Parker came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Parker was shy but loose for all handling. During SAFER Parker came into the assessment room calm, he was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Parker was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Parker bit the assess-a-hand on food and rawhide items, he showed no interest in the toy item. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, and open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Parker will greet the other dog briefly before moving off to explore his surroundings.
