03/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Parker was brought in as a stray surrender so his past behavior in a home is unknown. At intake it was noted that Parker appeared to be nervous and was easily startled by loud noises, but after a few minutes he was became comfortable enough to allow all handling. During SAFER Parker had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, and was very attention seeking. He allowed all handing items without issue, and was playful during the tag interaction. Parker had soft body language and only required a bit of pressure to his cheek to push out of the food bowl during the food item, and was easy to handle when chewing on the toys and rawhides. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Parker is friendly, eager to play with a loose body and a high wagging tail. With a more active player, he offers a correction when she is forward, so he probably prefers soft play.
