11/04/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: One can not find a more girly girl than Peluzza ! And she is such a sweetheart… Peluzza came to us as a stray. She is in need of veterinary assistance. Her belly is quite large, her hinds are stiff, her gait difficult, her coat, although clean is very thin and hair is missing by places. Her teeth have seen better days. Still her eyes are sparkling, her ears listening, and her will to be in company, petted and loved is quite alive and strong. She gathers all her strength to come when I call her. She loves to be on my lap and be kissed. She does not own a mean bone.. Peluzza is interested in other dogs, even if they are much bigger and younger than her. Good care, a safe and loving home might “put her back on her feet” or at least lessen her ailments. She is just too adorable and gentle to pass her over… Peluzza is at the Manhattan Care Center, an endearing gal we dream to see happy and well in your hands. Please, consider her. She is a little gem.
11/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Paluzza walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Paluzza was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was not interested in toys. Paluzza did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1: No interest. When off leash with other dogs Paluzza allows greeting but is more interested in exploring his surroundings.
