08/13/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Stunning! Just stunning! His gleaming coat of gray and gold cloaks his fabulous physique, his tail wags, he smiles, and his eyes are filled with intelligence and warmth. Likely housetrained he ‘went’ as soon as we were out the door and pulls slightly on the leash as we walk to the park. Off leash in the yard he plays gently with toys, and played tug with me not guarding his prize at all. He sits for a treat, gives me an amazing smile and take the treat with the very edge of his teeth not touching my hand at all. Gentle, calm and such a pleasure to snuggle with, he puts his paws on my lap for some cuddling before running off to check out some dogs in an adjoining pen. In group play he greets well and becomes playful, although doesn’t like to be corrected by another dog. Young, friendly and with a lovely soft energy, Orbit doesn’t want to just circle your world, he wants to find his place in it. He’s looking for a fun and active family who loves to snuggle. Does that describe you? Ask to meet him today.
08/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Orbit pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Orbit was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Orbit did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He took the toy and the rawhide with a soft body language. Orbit approaches the helper dog with his tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long. Orbit is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1.
