12/03/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/03/15 Onyx A1059524 is a black and white 3 yr old male American pit bull terrier mix who was found in a park. No other information was provided during intake. During Intake Onyx greeted staff with a loose wiggly body, happy wagging tail and an open mouth. Onyx was extremely excited and continued to jump on staff. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared and photographed. Onyx was given water and began drinking it immediately. He took treats from the staffs hands gently.
12/06/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I doubt Onyx ever attended a ball. Life does not seem to have treated him so well. He is still young at 3 years of age but is already wearing calluses and his body is much too thin. So, we played “pretended” and I adorned him with a tuxedo neckpiece. It made such a difference…A handsome lad ready to find his “Melady”. Onyx is kind of cute and I do like him, even that I heard he had a tendency to mount his peers in playgroups. Well, like a respectable pet, he just needs to be neutered….Onyx pulls on the leash, although not always. He does mark his territory as expected and is not too fond of his kennel. He sits beautifully on command or for treats and will run after a tennis ball. No retrieving, though. I did not have a chance to observe him free in a pen but Onyx is very friendly and attention seeking although he is not at all overwhelming. He comes at times to my chest and poses his head against me for caresses. Same as we sit on a bench..Onyx comes on my lap and offers lots of kisses. I know that my boy, being as dark as night and seemingly puny would not stand a chance at the Westminster Show but may be , given a chance…he could make his way to your heart’s secret paths… Onyx did quite well on his behavioral evaluation and could go home ..with you..after his neutering, of course..
