12/08/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/08/15 14:25 Basic Information: Noland is 1 year and 6 months. He is a Labrador retriever mixed with Pit Bull. His previous owner got him 7 months ago from his previous owner. He had to be surrendered because of his health. He was never taken to the vet. The two things his previous owner liked most about him were; he’s friendly and loveable. Social Life and Personality: Noland was not around children or cats in his previous home. Around dogs he was respectful and exuberant at play. He is mostly house-trained but had accidents a few times a week if he wasn’t taken outside. He was kept indoors and his activity level is high. He can be described as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, and friendly. Behavior: The last time Noland bit a person and animal was 1 month ago, the bites did break skin. If Noland’s food bowl is touched while he’s eating looks up briefly then continues eating and the same pace. He is friendly if a treat or toy is taken from him while eating or playing. He is also friendly if he is taken off the furniture. He is afraid if he is given a bath but tolerates it. He isn’t bothered if his nails are trimmed. He is friendly if his coat is brushed, if he is held/ restrained, if an unfamiliar person approached his previous owner or previous home. He isn’t bothered if he is disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to know: Noland knows sit and up. For exercise he went out 2-3 times a day. He likes playing with squeaky toys and balls. His favorite games are tug and fetch. When his previous owner was home he would tend to follow him around and when left alone he is well-behaved. His previous owner did not know if he was afraid of fireworks or storms or how he was off-leash. He ate dry Purina and at night he slept in his owner’s bed. Behavior during intake: Noland had a wagging tail and relaxed body. He allowed me to collar him, bear hug him, pet him. He showed no signs of aggression during intake.

12/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Noland pulls a bit on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Noland did a lot of jumping up, body checking and played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction. He took the toy with a soft body language. Noland was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Noland show a bit of concern during the tag interaction he became a bit over arousal. He was surrendered to us with a previous bite history, of biting the owner as the owner entered the basement when it was dark. The owner also stated that Noland has been bitten by a dog before in the past, and according to the owner was attacked by a couple of dogs as well. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter without children who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Sensitivity: 1.
