10/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nockz previously lived with 1 adult and has been around children as young as infants. The owner stated Nocks is relaxed, respectful, tolerant, and somewhat rough during play with the kids, his problem is that he is unaware of his size and jumps on the children. It was reported by the owner When Nockz sees cats or small animals outside he chases them. The owner mentioned Nocksz is house trained; crate trained, well behaved when left alone and has a high activity level. The owner describes Nockz as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, independent, and friendly. At intake it was reported Nockz calm and relaxed, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Nockz came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Nockz joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Nockz was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Nockz appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy, and due to Nockz playing somewhat rough due to not knowing his size around young children the behavior department feels its best he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 1. No interest Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly.
