08/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/29/15 18:15 BASIC INFO Nika is a 10 year old Lab, possibly mixed with Hound. Her family got her almost 10 years ago when she was left at their door (her owner is a super of an apt building). Due to unforeseen circumstances, he doesn’t have a place for his dogs anymore. He rehomed 3 of his 14 dogs and is surrendering the rest. Nika is the mother of Hennessy A1049478 and Jason A1049411. SOCIALIZATION Nika is friendly and outgoing with strangers. She lived with a child who’s currently 5 years old and is relaxed, playful, and tolerant with him. She plays gently with people. Hennessy lived with 13 other large dogs. She’s relaxed and playful and plays exuberantly with other dogs of all sexes. She barks cats outside of her fence. She’s never bit any people or animals. BEHAVIOR Nika doesn’t mind storms. She’s friendly with strangers who approach her home/family. She doesn’t mind when someone takes her food/treat/toy, moves her off furniture, holds/restrains her, wakes her up, or bathes her. She loves being brushed and will sit still for it all day. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Nika’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow and medium energy. They love that she’s obedient and attentive. She follows his family around. She plays chase and loves to run and roll around in the yard. She lived inside, slept with her owners, and ate dry Pedigree and Purina foods. She loves rice, beans, and pork chops. She’s housetrained and never has accidents. She potties on cement. She’s well-behaved while home alone. She is well-behaved while outside alone within her 8′ chain link fence for short periods of time. She’s crate-trained and does well in his crate during maintenance in his home. She knows sit, down, and come. She went for slow walks and walked by her owner’s side without pulling. INTAKE Nika had a very soft, relaxed body and open mouth while we pet, scanned (-), collared, switched leashes, and positioned her for pictures. She spent time with us at our desk area and sat or stood with her head in our laps. She also stood up and hugged us with her front legs, leaning into us with her face and chest, both while we stood and sat. She nudged our hands with her head while we used the computer until we pet her. She sat while we brushed her. She wagged her tail while we talked to and pet her. She was quiet, took treats very gently, and sat and went into her kennel when asked.
09/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Family dogs don’t come any more well-qualified than beautiful Nika! From gentle play with a 5-year-old child, harmonious socializing with her 13 (!!!!) doggie siblings and a wonderfully friendly and outgoing manner with ‘strangers’ (though everyone is an instant BFF in her eyes), Nika has everything you could want in a pet and SO much more! Her former owner reports zero handling issues and tells us Nina absolutely loves being massaged and brushed, enjoys a good game of chase and has great fun simply running and rolling around in the yard. Crate trained, house trained, a good leash walker…need I go on? If all these ‘official’ qualifications don’t blow you away then I guarantee you’ll smile over sweet quirks like her love of rice, beans and pork chops and the way she nuzzles her face under an arm or onto a lap to beg for extra petting. Kisses, stand-up hugs, belly rubs — there’s no end to the snuggling opportunities when Nika’s on the job! Literally everyone who’s had the good fortune to meet her comes away singing Nika’s praises and she probably has more #1 Fans than any other dog to come through our Care Center doors. Don’t miss this opportunity to add a wonderful, affectionate and bright new family member to your pack — step up for Nika today!
