My name is NENA. My Animal ID # is A1042953.
I am a spayed female black and tan chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 5 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/06/2015 from NY 10469, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

07/06/15 17:52 Basic Information: Nena is a stray who was found in the street near Bronx Wood. When found she had on a leash with her name on it but no collar. Intake Behavior: At first Nena would move away from an extended hand. She would bark at the door and survey the room. But after a while she laid on the floor, sniffed extended hand and allowed petting. When the door opened and she saw other dogs or was walking around she would wag her tail and didn’t react to other dogs being present.

07/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nena walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling and easily engages in play, body is loose and wiggly, mouth open. Nena did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She was not interested in toys or rawhide. Nena did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Nena is tolerant of interaction and wanders the yard.

When off leash with other dogs, Nena is tolerant of interaction and wanders the yard. 7/8 update: Nena remains tolerant and spends her time exploring her surroundings.
