Paris allowed me to handle her, and showed no signs of aggression.
06/17/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer updates: I didn’t meet Paris, fka Nells, when she was with us the first time, so the good news/bad news is that I get to meet her now, and you get a chance to adopt her! Surrendered by her former owner as she is moving where Paris is not welcome, we’re told that what she likes best about Paris is how affectionate and playful she is. We’re also told that she’s housetrained, and wee wee pad-trained, sleeps in her crate with the door open at night, is well behaved in the home when alone (doesn’t need to be crated), and knows ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘go’ and ‘stay’. She showed off her housetraining skills as soon as we were out the door, and while she initially pulls on leash, quickly settled down to a nice walk. Her cowprint coat is gorgeous, her freckled ears the perfect complement, and her toe nails alternate between white and black to really tie it together! It’s like someone designed an “outfit” for her :). Sitting when asked to, she takes a treat so gently I can barely feel her mouth on my fingers. She enjoyed playing with a toy, tossing it around, giving chase when I threw it and joining me on the bench with it. Giving me some soft kisses, she was content to sit with me, two old friends surveying the area, confirming what her former owner told us, that she’s “mellow and likes to relax”. So sweet. In play group she was a bit shy, greeted other dogs nicely but did not engage in play. Paris hasn’t had a lot of experience in the big wide world it seems, and is hoping to find a home in which she’ll be slowly introduced to people, and get to experience new things. Beautiful, sweet, and ready to start a new life, Paris is hoping you’ll stop by to meet her today.
06/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Paris walks calmly on the leash. She became extremely fearful during the assessment she was stiff and was uncomfortable with handling; she exposed her front teeth with a low growl. We decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Paris was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Paris was surrendered to us. The owner stated that since being in her care Paris hasn’t been around any children or other animals. Paris seems to have aggression towards dogs when passing in the street. The owner also believes that Paris has aggression issues towards strangers”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 5. Dog freezes and growls Food: No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. When off leash in playgroup Paris is a little nervous with human interaction, muzzled after a hard assertive bark at gate. Once intro’d with mate, relaxed, muzzle removed and engaged in push and pull play.
