07/28/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Natalie came into our center as an owner surrender. Owner reports she does not get along with other dogs or cats, but got along well with the children in the home. Owner also reports Natalie is not house broken and has accidents inside the home. Owner gave conflicting information as to whether or not Natalie is comfortable around strangers. Owner reports Natalie will snap if you attempt to pick her up. Natalie was nervous upon intake but did allow handling. She held gaze during Look item, body soft. Natalie stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, lip lick. She did not engage during Tag game, standing still and barking at assessor, but did approach afterwards with some coaxing. Natalie growled during first Squeeze attempt, had no response to both Flank Squeezes. She had no interest in Food, this may be as owner reported feeding her table scraps only. She also had no interest in Toy or Rawhide. Natalie approached helper dog slowly, head and tail low. Due to her reports of snapping, the Behavior Team feels Natalie would do best with an Experienced adopter with No Children. She may do best in a calm, quiet, structured environment where she knows what to expect and can relax in her new home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body soft, mouth closed, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 4. Dog stands her ground while not cornered and barks at the Assessor with ears forward, body stiff. Squeeze 1: 4. Dog growls. Flank squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 1. Dog approaches the helper dog slowly and submissively, tail and head low.
