BEHAVIOR:
Nanny came to our center as a stray on 6/18/2015. She wagged her tail upon intake. Nanny pulled hard on leash for her relief walk, panting and high energy. She was in constant motion during attempts at Look item, jumping, pulling out of hands, etc. Nanny stood still and accepted touch for Sensitivity item, lip lick, body soft. She became overly aroused quickly during Tag game, jumping/mouthing assessor, jumping forward to grab leash, and did not settle easily at end of game. Nanny did not pull her paw back during both Squeeze attempts, sniffing and licking assessor’s hand. She allowed Food dish to be moved and lifted her head when assess-a-hand was applied to her cheek. Nanny was playful and enthusiastic with both Toy and Rawhide, keeping a firm grip, settling close, wagging tail with loose body. When off leash with other dogs, she is energetic and social. The Behavior Team feels Nanny would do best with an Experienced adopter that does not have very young children. She may benefit from obedience classes to work on leash manners, as well as mouthing/jumping up. Nanny may also benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, and durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct her high energy.
