DOG INFORMATION SHEET (5/19) Murphy Brown is a young female brown pitbull who is being surrendered with limited information. Murphy has only been in the house for one day. Upon intake Murphy was very loose receptive to introduction. Murphy walked well on leash but could be insistent on leash. Murphy is also very receptive to petting and easily aroused by play. Murphy was treat motivated and responded to the command sit. PREVIOUS DOG INFORMATION SHEET (5/11) Basic Information: Murphy Brown is an American Pit Bull Terrier. She was bought from a pet store and is being surrendered because the owner cannot handle her new baby and the dog. She has been to the vet and has no known injuries or health problems. The owner says that she loves how cute her face is. Social Life and Personality: Murphy has lived with an infant and the owner states that she licks the baby’s face all the time and is very gentle with the baby. She has not been around other dogs. She has lived with a cat and is often found playing with the cat. She was very relaxed and tolerant of the cat in the home. She is house trained and does not have accidents in the home. She is kept mostly indoors and has a high activity level. The owner describes her as playful, pushy, confident, excitable, affectionate, and friendly. Behavior: When left home alone Murphy may chew on molding or floor tiles. Murphy is not bothered if someone touches her food bowl or takes a bone or treat away. She is friendly if someone takes away a toy, gives her a bath, brush her, hold her, or when strangers approached her home or family. For a New Family to Know: Murphy knows how to sit and stay. The owner says that she will bite mops, brooms, and vacuums. She is used to on and off leash walks and playing in a fenced in yard. She likes to play with all kinds of toys including balls, stuffed, water bottles, and squeaky toys. Her favorite game is tug. When her owner is home she follows her. When home alone Murphy will destroy household items and walls. She has never been crate trained. She whines during loud noises. She is used to eating 3x a day. Intake Behavior: Murphy Brown approach counselor and solicited attention but jumping in her lap and licking her face. She wanted to great everybody. She allowed handling and did not show aggressive behavior. When her owner left she sat by the door and whined. She continued to allow handling. She had a loose body and wagging tail throughout the intake.

Dora is friendly when strangers approached her home or family; the owner says that she will bite mops, brooms, and vacuums. When home alone Murphy Bown will destroy household items and walls, she will whine during loud noises. Upon intake Murphy Brown approach counselor and solicited attention but jumping in her lap and licking her face, she wanted to greet everybody. She allowed handling; she had a loose body and wagging tail. During SAFER she had soft body posture on sensitivity, tag interaction she joins the game loose and wiggly and approached the assessor at the end. Food item she allowed the assessor to move her head out of the food bowl, toy item she chew and will relinquish by the assessor, on rawhide item she showed no interest. The bahavior department feels Murphy Brown can go to an “average’ adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Murphy Brown greets politely at the gate and is loose body when interacting in the yard.
