06/24/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Letting me know she needed to go out for a walk, Muffin was the perfect way to start my day. Likely housetrained (thus the urgency to leave her kennel), Muffin pottied right away and then it was fun time. Gently playing with a toy, laying her head in my lap for some petting, smoothly taking some treats, Muffin is a sweetheart who comes when I call her, happy to make friends. Well fed and well groomed, Muffin seems to have enjoyed the niceties of a home before joining us, and she has likely been a mom a couple of times. While she pulls on the leash, a little bit of positive reinforcement training will correct that problem, and since she likes treats it should be easy. Miss Muffin is quietly friendly, easy to be with and looking for her new BFF. Will it be you?
06/28/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
6/28/15 Update Muffin has shown offensive aggression when off leash with other dogs. She has shown no pro-social behavior towards other dogs and his highly reactive to other dogs when entering and exiting the kennel. At this point it is in Muffins best interest to be placed into an adoptive for foster home that can manage her behavior around other dogs and provide a behavior modification plan to help address her response to other dogs. 6/23/15 SAFER Muffin came to our center after being found tied inside a building. She was energetic and friendly during intake. She allowed all handling, showing no signs of aggression. Muffin held gaze for three full seconds during Look item. She stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity ite, lip long, tail neutral, body soft. Muffin played along during Tag game, jumping on the assessor with soft body. She lifted her head out of the Food bowl once assess-a-hand was applied to cheek. Muffin playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip and loose, wiggly body. She kept a firm grip on Rawhide, turning slightly away, body neutral. The Behavior Team feels Muffin would do best with an Experienced adopter. She may benefit from being the only resident dog.
