06/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Molly came to us as an owner surrender on 6/6/2015. It is reported she has lived with children and interacted playfully. Owner also reports she has never been around cats. Molly pulled a bit on her relief walk. She became increasingly more anxious and irritated as assessment progressed. Molly held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, body soft. She licked her lips and was a bit tense during Sensitivity. Molly followed at the end of the leash during Tag item with a low body, crouching when touched, spinning towards the hand on the last pass. She gave whale eye and licked her lips frequently before Squeeze attempt, where she moved her body away. During both flank attempts she head flipped towards the assessor’s hand. Molly did not lift her head out of the Food bowl, and bit assess-a-hand on second cheek push. She had minimal interest in Toy and no interest in Rawhide. During dog-to-dog interaction, Molly did not approach, turned to the side with her head low, and then attempted to exit. Due to Molly’s attempt at biting the assess-a-hand, she must be placed with a New Hope Partner who is prepared to offer positive behavior modification if any possessive behaviors manifest any further. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog spins toward the touch, body low and crouching, tail tucked, mouth closed, body stiff. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog moves her legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw. Flank squeeze 1 / 2 : 3. Dog head flips while moving hip away. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog may smell or lick, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
