09/13/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/13/15 19:06HRS Missy is a 2 year old male American Pit-bull terrier that has been cared for by her owner along with her son Gotti (A1051316). They are being surrendered because their owner is unable to keep them at the current residence. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Missy is described as calm and affectionate. She lived in a household with adults and toddlers. She enjoys being petted and playing with everyone she meets. She was playful with Gotti in the household. They play together, eat together and sleep together. Missy plays exuberantly with other dogs but doesn’t pay other dogs attention while being walked. BEHAVIOR Missy doesn’t mind if her food bowl or toys are touched or taken from him. She is used to being bathed at least 4x a month. Her owner stated that she can normally be found with Gotti . She is friendly towards visitors. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Missy enjoys attention. She knows the command” put it down.” She is walked 2x a day and can be walked off leash because she stays near her owner. She was fed Pedigree dry dog food. She likes to eat home cooked chicken as well. DURING INTAKE Missy displayed a soft and calm body. She allowed all handling. She was collared, scanned for a microchip (negative) and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.

09/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Pocket Pittie Alert!! Surrendered with her son Gotti due to a ‘no pets allowed’ policy, Missy has quickly become a staff favorite due to her sweet personality and wiggly offer of friendship to all. Happy to come out for a walk, she went potty right away and showed off nice leash manners as we walked to the park. Tail wagging to all who wanted to meet her, she’s described as “calm and affectionate” and indeed she is. She showed me her sit (“put it down”) in exchange for a treat which she takes gently. Missy lived with adults and toddlers in addition to her son, Gotti, and did well with all. She enjoys attention and petting, and her attempts to get up on the bench with me for snuggling were hilarious. And she did it! Missy is a cute, little, tail wagging, friendly, affectionate and fun little girl who needs a new home. Stop by to meet her today.

09/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Missy pulls a bit on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. Missy was excited and mouthy (light) during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was excitable and distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Missy did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She was not interested in toys but took the toy away with a soft body language Missy was surrender to us. Her previous owner described Missy is as calm and affectionate. She lived in a household with adults and toddlers. She enjoys being petted and playing with everyone she meets. She was playful with Gotti in the household. They play together, eat together and sleep together. Missy plays exuberantly with other dogs but doesn’t pay other dogs attention while being walked. Missy doesn’t mind if her food bowl or toys are touched or taken from her”. Missy during the assessment appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for her energy. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experienced home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Food 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide.
