When Miss Lizzy first came into the shelter, she was scared and unsure. Now, this is what they have to say about her… A volunteer updates: Just like the lyrics, “What a difference a day makes…”, Miss Lizzy has come out of her shell and is welcoming and tail waggy. She’s even ready to snuggle on any lap who will have her, happy to make new friends and go for a walk. She’s met several new people, greeting all with a smile and a wag and is becoming the little girl her former family described to us — a family dog who lived with and was gentle with her human siblings, well behaved and affectionate. The real Miss Lizzy has given us a gentle ‘woof’ and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her. ow she needs a new home and that’s where you fit in. Ask to meet her today! Another volunteer updates: It just keeps getting better and better and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Happy to meet new people, a star in play group, Miss Lizzy is a happy snuggler and tail wagger, happy to be chosen for a walk so she can show off her good manners and go potty, and ready to kiss anyone who’s ready to kiss her back. She may get shy again in her new home and may need some time to acclimate, but given how quickly she found her balance in this new and busy environment, we’re sure she’ll adjust quickly. She needs you now, so let’s get her home today!
05/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
During her initial SAFER Miss Lizzy was fearful and asocial. However, she appears to be acclimating very well;during an interaction with the Assessment team three days later she was easily removed from her kennel, relaxed and interactive. Based upon this notable improvement we feel that Miss Lizzy is likely appropriate for a home with or without children, provided she is given the time to warm up to her new family at her own pace. ReSafer: 5/27/2015: Miss LIzzy came to us as an owner surrender. It is reported she has lived with children ages 12 & 13,playing gently with them. Miss Lizzy walked calmly on her relief walk and was comfortable coming into the assessment room, jumping up on assessor and assistant playfully to lick faces. Miss Lizzy accepted the touch during Sensitivity item with a soft body/wagging tail. She followed at the end of leash for Tag game, jumping up playfully at the end to lick assessor. She did not pull her paw back during both Squeeze attempts, licking assessor’s hand. Miss Lizzy calmly allowed the Food dish to be moved away from her. She engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip with a loose, wiggly body/wagging tail. Miss Lizzy became a bit stiff when attempting to take Rawhide, taking it away but did not escalate. The Behavior Team feels Miss Lizzy would do well in an Experienced home. Due to her past very fearful behaviors, she may benefit from a home that can provide structure & routine so she can relax and know what to expect in her new environment. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2.
