A volunteer writes: Calling all angels! I fell in love with MJ (as I call her), and know you will too. That frumpy little face, soft eyes, wagging tail and desire to cuddle with her person just took me over the top. This little girl has been a mom a couple of times, and it’s likely that her pups took some nutrients from her system, as she needs some TLC to restore her coat to it’s natural luster. Of course, don’t tell her that, as she’s the sweetest, cuddliest, softest girl. She loves to snuggle, and when I stopped petting her she nudged me with her face reminding me that “idle hands are the devils’ workshop”, as the old expression goes. She’s likely housetrained, takes treats super gently and keeps watch for more; she’s such a delight! I mushed her frumpy face and that only made her want to cuddle more. Sweet, gentle, calm and snuggly and in need of a person or family to snuggle with. If you’re the lucky angel who meets her first it could be you. Do it today!
06/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mint Julip pulls hard on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Mint Julip was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Mint Julip growled and bit the assess-a-hand during the resources (food, toys and rawhide). Mint Julip rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. Mint Julip is an active dog she need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. During the assessment she shows some concern during the resources (food, toy and rawhide). Mint Julip may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. Her body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 5. Dog attempts to bite Rawhide 5. Dog attempts to bite Dog – dog 2.
