SAFER: AVERAGE HOME
Miley came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. It was reported Miley was loose and friendly upon intake, allowing all handling. During SAFER Miley was social and friendly towards the assessor but a bit shy, look and sensitivity item he was a bit tense and trembling, tag-interaction he follows with his body low. Miley allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue and during the resources portion of the assessment, Miley was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Miley appears to be sociable but a bit shy, we cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Miley is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. So the behavior department feels Miley can go to an “average” adopter.
Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Body fearful, his tail is tucked. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is between his legs, body fearful, mouth closed.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.
