Manhattan Center

My name is MIGO. My Animal ID # is A1033378.
I am a male tan and white pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 3 MONTHS old.

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 04/16/2015 from NY 10467, owner surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA.

04/16/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/16/15 15:01 Migo was nery friendly with soft body and wagging tail. He allowed for all handling.

04/26/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Surrendered to our care because his owner is moving, Migo is trying to make the best out of his new circumstances. He’s a bit too thin, but friendly and affectionate. Likely housetrained, he goes potty as soon as we’re out the door and we’re off the to the park. Migo is ready to call everyone a friend, wagging his tail at people and other dogs, leaning in for closeness as I pet him. He loves a good belly rub, paws flopping in the air, mouth in a smile, so happy for the attention. Off leash in a pen he happily greets a staff person who comes in to meet him, using his paw as a nudge to remind us all to keep petting him. So sweet! Not really interested in a tossed ball, he’s more interested in exploring the pen, sniffing the smells of the dogs before him. He’s playful with other dogs in group, and was happy and excited to greet others in an adjoining pen. Migo will do well in an active home, and of course, with people who appreciate giving good belly rubs! Another volunteer writes: When I walked Migo, he had stopped often to give me hugs and kisses. He’s a real heartbreaker. He showed no aggression towards other dogs and was friendly towards them. He is most likely potty trained, as he went as soon as we left the building. I hated having to leave him in his cage, as his big soft eyes pleaded for my attention. Come and snatch Migo up for your own hugging and kissy buddy. Still another volunteer writes: This handsome boy will melt your heart. His striking, yet warm and soft hazel eyes will stare into your soul and you will instantly feel a connection with him. He is so easy to walk and listens well. He enjoys being petted and likes giving away free smooches. He is a hungry boy, always sniffing for food and picking up scraps, but that’s just because he’s a growing boy! Migo would be a great addition to your family if you want a loving, friendly, and loyal companion. If you meet Migo, you won’t want to let him go!

04/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Migo walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Migo was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He ate faster, was stiff and very difficult to push out of the food bowl, but did not growl, snap or bite. Migo was not interested in toys or rawhide. Migo show a bit of concern during the food bowl test but did not escalate to a growl or a bite. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 3. Dog gulps food, begins to eat faster and with bigger bites, body stiff. He does not lift head when hand is applied to cheek. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog-dog: With other dogs off-leash, Migo was energetic, and playful around other dogs.

04/27/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

When off leash with other dogs, Migo is conflicted but interested in interacting. He will try to solicit play from appropriate dogs and is respectful of calmer dogs, but can be overwhelmed by pushy dogs.
